Thank you for using www.pretzelcitysports.com to register
for your upcoming race. Here's some information on registering
online:
- To use this site, you will need to have 3 things; the name
of the race, a valid credit card and a PayPal account. If
you do not have a PayPal account, there is an opportunity
toward the end of the registration process to sign up for
one. It is free and takes only a few minutes.
- Click on the "register me" button of this section
and then click on the name of the race that you wish to enter.
Races are listed chronologically, from "soonest" to "furthest
away". The subsequent screens will ask you for the
information that is normally required by most hard copy
registration forms.
- At the end of the registration process, the site will
tell you what you owe for the entry fees plus the service
charge. Each online race registration is charged a nominal
service charge to cover the costs levied by PayPal and the
additional work relating to setting up the online site & interfacing
your info with the race's main database. This service charge
is in addition to your race entry fee; not part of
it.
- After having entered and paid, you will, almost immediately,
get an email at the email address you supply; confirming
that you have entered the event. If you do not receive such
an email, it is highly unlikely that your entry was
completed and accepted by the system. You will have to enter
again. You do not have to bring this return email to the
race to confirm entry but it is a nice thing to retain if
you have to prove that you entered at a later date.
- It is possible that you may wish to enter several family
members or friends at the same time or even enter multiple
races yourself at the same sitting. Unfortunately, the system
is only set up to take one entry for a race at a time and
you'll have to repeat the process for each entry. To develop
a more comprehensive system that accommodates this infrequent
need would have cost Pretzel City Sports tens of thousands
of dollars in system programming and we're trying to keep
our entry fees & service charges as reasonable as possible.
Two other things relating to this service charge. It is
non-refundable, regardless of the situation. Although few
races offer refunds after entry, the service charge covers
expenses that are incurred even if the race
permits a refund and thus, will not be returned. Also, very few
races require you to enter online; online registration
is normally offered for your convenience and is not mandatory.
If you'd like to avoid the service charge, print off the
application from this site, fill it out and mail it in to
the address on that app.
- THE GOOD NEWS ABOUT JOINING PAYPAL: Once you join, you
can use that account to pay for quite a few things on the
web. Books on running from Amazon, clothing from Road Runner
Sports, cheap pharmaceuticals from Canada, etc. It is one
of many ways to reduce the number of people with which you
share your credit card information.
- THE BAD NEWS ABOUT JOINING PAYPAL: Unfortunately, a mockup
of the PayPal site has been used by more than a few shysters
to rip people off. Some of these scam sites even go so far
as to ask you for your password to enter them; just to throw
you off. You’d probably get thru even if you told them your
password was "glpktomotony". The often say that
your account has been suspended because they have to update
your info or they need your info to prevent fraud. Legitimate
PayPal emails almost always start their email by referring
to you by your proper name; not you email address, Dear PayPal
Customer or anything else generic. They also will NEVER ask
you for your bank account, pin number, social security number,
credit card number (unless during a transaction) or shoe size.
If they do, get off the site; they’re looking for a "easy
mark" and that ain't you! For more tips on how to recognize
legitimate PayPal contacts, check the "security" button
on www.paypal.com
